The Boardwalk Villas- My Complete Review

Disney_BoardWalk_Villas-550x247So you’ve decided on your travel dates and decided on a Villa at The Boardwalk Inn & Villas! You’re wondering if this will be a good resort to choose, and are probably comparing it to some other options as well. Well, rest easy- I had the pleasure of renting points through the DVC Rental Store to stay in a BWV in October of 2013, and it was my family’s favorite trip to date! If you are like me, the accommodations do play a key factor in everyone’s vacation experience, so here are some facts about the resort and some reasons why you should consider your stay the BWV!

From the moment you arrive (via Magical Express of course) you feel like you’ve stepped into an early 20th century east coast boardwalk resort. From the elegant miniature carousel and roller coaster models in the lobby to the whimsical décor, you feel transported to a simpler time and easily fall into a trance of relaxation. The vibe is dramatically understated compared to the more colorful and heavily themed Disney resorts- unless you are on a search for hidden Mickey’s (which is always super fun) you would have a hard time remembering you are indeed within the grounds of Disney World altogether.
The first and most important reason why so many guests love the Boardwalk Inn & Villas is location, location, location! A well known fact about resort pricing at Disney World is that convenience plays heavily into the cost of room rates. Bottom line, the closer you are in walking distance to a park or if the resort has a monorail station- the more that convenience will cost you. And the first time you set out on foot to walk to or take a short relaxing boat ride to Epcot or Hollywood Studios, you quickly realize just how ideal this location truly is!
Now that I mentioned a boat ride, located right outside the resort is beautiful Crescent Lake. Not only does this picturesque lake provide amazing views, it provides the backdrop that the boardwalk is centered around and creates the authentic boardwalk feel. From beautiful sunrises to feeding the ducks, you will feel like you are on the coast soaking up the salty air. Boat and bike rentals are available, and there are plenty of seaside snacks to partake of!
Snacks- did I make you hungry? Well around the Boardwalk bordering Crescent Lake there are typical Boardwalk snacks like funnel cakes, pizza and hotdogs as well as one of Disney World’s best kept secrets, the Boardwalk Bakery! Perfect for your morning coffee and daily pastry treat, but the menu also boasts scrumptious soups, salads and sandwiches as well. This is great to know as the Boardwalk Inn & Villas does not have a food court option or restaurant within the resort- this is the only place to get that must have refillable mug filled! Speaking of food, the Boardwalk boasts some of Disney’s most popular dining choices as well- Big River Grille and Brewing Co., Flying Fish Café, Kouzzina by Cat Cora and the ESPN club are all within steps of the resort.
If you are looking for a little night life fun, the Boardwalk is the pace to be! It really does come alive at night, the beautifully lit store fronts reflect magically on the water and an evening stroll after a nice dinner is the perfect way to end a day of park hopping. Want to take part in some adult only fun, check out Jellyrolls which features dueling pianos and sing-alongs or Atlantic Dance Hall, an upscale dance club to dance the night away. Also, at night you may catch various live entertainment along the boardwalk as well, perhaps a juggler, a tarot card reader, or a jazz trio performing- the artists vary nightly.
So you’ve walked the Boardwalk, taken a boat ride to Epcot, had dinner at The Flying Fish and finished up your day with a funnel cake while sitting by the water, now it’s time to go back to your Villa. You’ll be so happy that your resort is only steps away from the action, yet as soon as you step inside, you’ll feel that relaxing vibe I mentioned earlier. If you prefer to be right in the middle of things, request a Boardwalk view so you can end your day people watching. We decided on a pool view, during the day you could hear some of the music and pool activity from the balcony but at night it was always peaceful and quiet, just how we liked it. No matter which view you choose, you will love the recently renovated villas with all the comforts of home. And when the pool calls you, you will not be disappointed with the water slide and the whimsical carnival theme of the Luna Park Pool or the two quiet leisure pools with spas a short stroll away. As with all things Disney, no detail was overlooked.
Well, there you have it: convenience, location, lake side fun, a boardwalk vibe and deluxe accommodations. Disney’s Boardwalk Villas- where you truly can have it all! I hope you and your family love it as much as we did!
