Hi, my name is Lisa and I started the DisTripQueen blog after being asked to be a guest blogger on a popular Disney travel site. I have been passionate about Walt Disney World Resort after I visited Cinderella’s Castle at the impressionable age of 12. Since then I have honeymooned at Disney, traveled on the Disney Cruise Line, taken various vacations there and recently spent my 40th birthday with the handsome Mr. Mickey Mouse! I am a stay at home mom with two daughters living on Cape Cod and there is no place we would rather vacation than Disney World.
When I planned my 40th birthday trip in 2013 I decided that it would be a “splurge” worthy trip and I reveled in all the planning. I made a binder, bought books and set out to research everything there was to know about Disney trip planning. In other words, I had a blast! I happened to be friends with a Disney Parks Moms Panelist and I sought her out for a lunch date, some laughs and trip planning advice. I had so much fun talking Disney with her that after that amazing trip, I started sharing my love of Disney with everyone. That led to my guest blogging position and eventually, I decided to apply for the 2015 Panel myself.
Out of over 20,000 applicants, I made it to the final round on my first try. In short, the Moms Panelists answer vacation planning questions online for Disney Parks and they are compensated with a free family vacation. But the real joy is talking Disney with people who are excited to plan their own trips and helping them taste a bit of the Disney Magic for themselves!
During the application process we had to submit a video (the photo above is from our video shoot) and answer the question of why we choose to vacation at Walt Disney World Resort. That was the easiest question out of all the questions they asked me. It is simply because of that Disney Magic. It was the magic of picking out the perfect princess crown for our little girl, or the look on her face when she met the love of her life, Buzz Lightyear. It was watching Wishes from the California Grill on our Honeymoon and riding the Haunted Mansion on the night of my birthday and being made an honorary caretaker. It was dressing up like Cruella Deville and Dalmatians on Halloween night and trick or treating as a family. We ran from station to station laughing until our sides hurt, it was the best Halloween we ever had.
I could go on and on, and for that reason I have decided to hold tight to my dream of becoming a Disney Parks Moms Panelist. In the meantime, it is my passion to write about things that help others find that same Magic for themselves. Few things bring me more joy than hearing my friends and family return from trips saying thank you for helping them plan their best trip ever.
If you have a Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question I would be more than happy to help you as well. Walt Disney said “all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them!” I am just someone pursuing a dream, feel free to follow along!
